How to Root Galaxy S4 Canadian SGH I337M on Android 4 2 2 Jelly Bean Firmware
This tutorial uses CF-Auto-Root file released by recognised XDA Developers, Chainfire. The CF-Auto-Root file allowing Galaxy S4 users to root their devices easily without depending on the firmware. It completely supports Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and future firmware as well.

Pre-requisites
1) Install USB Driver for Samsung Galaxy S4 on the computer.
2) Enable USB Debugging Mode on the phone.
3) Make a backup of all your important data before following the guide.
4) Ensure the battery of the phone is charged more than 80 per cent.
5) The CF-Auto-Root file works only on Samsung Galaxy S4 (Canadian) SGH-I337M. Applying this on any incorrect variant will brick the device. Verify the model number of the Galaxy S4 by navigating to Settings >> About Phone.

Steps to Root Galaxy S4 (Canadian) SGH-I337M Running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Firmware
Step 1: Extract CF-Auto-Root and Odin 3.07 files using winrar/7zip/winzip or any other extracting tool.
Step 2: Switch off the Galaxy S4. Then boot the device into Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down + Home buttons together and then press the Power button until the device turns on. Now press the Volume Up button to enter Download Mode.
Step 3: Launch Odin on the computer.
Step 4: Connect the Galaxy S4 to the computer using USB cable while it is in the Download Mode. Wait until Odin detects the device. When the device is connected successfully, the ID: COM box will turn yellow with the COM port number. Additionally, the successful connected will be indicated by a message saying Added. If Odin fails to detect the device then re-install USB driver
Step 5: In Odin, click the PDA button and select the CF-Auto-Root-jfltecan-jfltevl-sghi337m.tar.md5 file.
Step 6: Verify that Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time checkboxes are selected in Odin. Also, ensure the Re-Partition option in Odin is not selected.
Step 7: Double-check and click Start in Odin. The installation process will now begin.
Step 8: Once flashing completed, your phone will restart and soon you will see a PASS message with green background in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin. You can now unplug the USB cable to disconnect your device from computer.
Samsung Galaxy S4 (Canadian) SGH-I337M running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean firmware is now rooted successfully. You may now install any app that requires root permission.

How to Root Nexus 4! Windows Mac OSX Linux Ubuntu
For those of you who want to root your Nexus 4 Android smartphone, here’s a step-by-step tutorial showing you how to root a Nexus 4 on Windows, Linux/Ubuntu, or Mac OSX computer.

This works for all Android versions including Android 4.2.1 and 4.2.2.
This rooting guide will allow you to also backup and restore your apps/settings.
Before we begin, please BACK UP EVERYTHING on your internal storage of Nexus 4 to your hard disk (you can do this by connecting it to your computer via USB cable or use AirDroid app).
This zip package contains everything you need including drivers for Windows and rooting files for all Windows, Mac, and Linux. Please download and unzip.
Download Nexus4Root.zip
If you see something like “Android ADB Interface” you are ready for the next step.

If you have trouble on Mac OSX connecting to your Nexus 4, download and install Android File Transfer.

Go back to your Nexus 4, choose “Recovery mode” using Volume buttons and hit the Power button.

Step 1.
Go to Settings->About Phone on your Nexus 4.Step 2.
Hit the “Build Number” couple times until your phone says, “You are now a developer”. Hit the back button.Step 3.
You will now see extra menu called “Developer options”, hit it.Step 4.
Make sure Developer options is ON and USB debugging is also checked then connect a micro-USB cable from your Nexus 4 to your computer.Step 5.
For Windows, you will need to install drivers. If you have Linux/Ubuntu or Mac OSX, skip to Step 7.Step 6.
Open Device Manager on your computer and update the Nexus 4 with exclamation mark with drivers provided in Nexus4Root.zip.If you see something like “Android ADB Interface” you are ready for the next step.
Step 7.
Open a command prompt (or terminal for Linux/Ubuntu or Mac) and type:For Windows:
cd Downloadscd Nexus4Rootadb backup -apk -all -f backup.ab For Linux/Ubuntu:
sudo -icd /home/UserName/Downloads/Nexus4Rootchmod 755 *./adb-linux backup -apk -all -f backup.ab For Mac OSX:

Go to your phone and you should see a Pop-up window asking you if you want to backup your data, hit “Back up my data”. This will backup all of your settings, apps, app data, wifi passwords, etc…etc… It will NOT BACKUP contents of your internal storage such as your personal videos/photos (you should have done that before following this guide!!!).Step 9.
Once backup is done, go ahead and turn your Nexus 4 power off. Then hold down the Volume Down and Power buttons together for about 5 seconds.Step 10.
Once in bootloader menu, connect a micro-USB cable from your Nexus 4 to your computer.Step 11.
Open up Device Manager again, if you don’t see “Android ADB Interface” you will have to install drivers again. Repeat Step 5 to install drivers. For Ubuntu/Linux or Mac OSX, skip to Step 12, no drivers required!Step 12.
Next go back to command prompt/terminal and type:For Windows:
adb oem unlock For Linux/Ubuntu:
./adb-linux oem unlock For Mac OSX:
./adb-mac oem unlockStep 13.
Go to your Nexus 4, hit the Volume Up button to select “Yes” and hit the Power button. Then hit the Power button again to re-boot your phoneStep 14.
Once re-booted, your Nexus 4 will be like the day you got it, everything wiped and starting from scratch. Go ahead and sign in.Step 15.
Connect your Nexus 4 to your computer and copy the file CWM-SuperSU-v0.99.zip to anywhere on your Nexus 4.If you have trouble on Mac OSX connecting to your Nexus 4, download and install Android File Transfer.
Also, if you have more trouble, you can download this file with your Nexus 4′s browser at DownloadAndroidROM.com. (It will be saved in your Downloads folder btw.)
Step 16.
Re-boot into the bootloader like you did in Step 9 and connect a micro-USB cable from your Nexus 4 to your computer.Step 17.
Go back to your command prompt/terminal and type:For Windows:

Go back to your Nexus 4, choose “Recovery mode” using Volume buttons and hit the Power button. Step 19.
Once in ClockworkMod(CWM) Recovery, choose “install zip from sdcard”.Step 20.
Next, choose “choose zip from sdcard”.Step 21.
Choose “0/”.Step 22.
Choose “CWM-SuperSU-v0.99.zip” and hit “Yes”. This is the actual rooting file, which included su binaries and SuperSU app, giving your phone root. This is the only part of this tutorial that actually roots your Nexus 4. We only did all the other steps to unlock the bootloader and install CWM Recovery which allows us to install this file on our phone.Step 23.
Choose “Reboot” from the main menu, if you see the following screen, make sure to choose “Yes – Disable recovery flash”. This is so you will have permanent CWM recovery as stock Android operating system overwrites it on re-boot if you don’t say yes here.Step 24.
Once rebooted you should find an extra app in the app drawer called “SuperSU”. Congratulations! You’ve successfully rooted your Nexus 4! You can download rooted apps like Titanium Backup app (which I highly recommend you to run once) and verify you have full root.Step 25.
Now, let’s try to restore some of your settings, apps, and app data. If you did make a backup of your internal storage before you started rooting, go ahead and copy all your files back into Nexus 4 internal storage.Next, go back to command prompt/terminal and type:

Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus I9105P users who have already updated their devices with Android 4.2.2 XXUBMG8 Jelly Bean, may root their devices using the tutorial below.

Steps to Install CWM Recovery on Galaxy S2 Plus I9105P
Step 1: Extract Odin 3.07 file using winrar/7zip/winzip or any other extracting tool.
Step 2: Switch off the Galaxy S2 Plus. Then boot the device into Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down, Home and Power buttons together until a construction Android robot icon with a warning triangle appears on screen. Now press the Volume Up button to enter Download Mode.
Step 3: Launch Odin on the computer as an Administrator.
Step 4: Connect the Galaxy S2 Plus to the computer using USB cable while it is in the Download Mode. Wait until Odin detects the device. When the device is connected successfully, the ID: COM box will turn blue with the COM port number. Additionally, the successful connected will be indicated by a message saying Added.
Note: If the Added message does not appear, then try re-install USB drivers or changing the port on the computer.
Step 5: In Odin, click the PDA button and select the Jerry_recovery.tar file.
Step 6: Verify that Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time checkboxes are selected in Odin. Also, ensure the Re-Partition option is not selected.
Step 7: Double-check and click Start in Odin. The installation process will now begin.
Step 8: Once the installation process is completed, your phone will restart and soon you will see a PASS message with green background in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin. You can now unplug the USB cable to disconnect your device from computer.
Steps to Root Galaxy S2 Plus I9105P by Installing SuperSU via CWM Recovery
Step 1: Connect the Galaxy S2 Plus to the computer using USB cable.
Step 2: Copy the UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.51.zip file to internal SD card of your phone.
Step 3: Once the file transfer process is completed, switch off the phone and disconnect it from computer.
Step 4: Boot the device into CWM Recovery by pressing and holding Volume Up, Home and Power buttons together.
Step 5: Select install zip from sdcard and then choose zip from sdcard. Now, navigate to the UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.51.zip file that you copied earlier and confirm the installation.
Step 6: Once installation process is completed, return to main recovery menu and select Reboot System Now.

Step 3: Switch off the Nexus 10. Then boot the device into fastboot mode by pressing and holding Volume Up, Volume Down, and Power buttons together.
Step 4: Connect the Nexus 10 to the computer using USB cable, then wait until Windows finished installing the drivers.
Step 5: Navigate to the folder where you extracted the CF-Auto-Root files, then run the following command:
- Windows: Run root-windows.bat
- Linux: chmod +x root-linux.sh, Run root-linux.sh
- Mac OS X: chmod +x root-mac.sh, Run root-mac.sh
Nexus 10 running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware is now rooted successfully. Open the app drawer of the Nexus 10 and look for an app called SuperSU. Verify the root status of the device by downloading Root Checker app from Google Play Store.
Note: If SuperSU does not appear after Step-6, then you can install it manually from the Google Play Store.

Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 users who have already updated their devices with Android 4.1.2 DXLSE Jelly Bean, may root their devices using the tutorial below.

Step 1: Download the PhilZ-cwm6-DXLSE-OLB-4.93.6-signed.zip file for Samsung Galaxy Note to the computer
Step 2: Connect the Galaxy Note to the computer using USB cable and then copy the downloaded root zip file to the external SD card of the phone
Step 3: Disconnect the phone from the computer and switch it off. Then boot the phone into stock recovery mode by pressing and holding Volume Up, Home and Power buttons together
Step 4: In recovery mode use the Volume keys to toggle between options and Home/Power button to select the desired option
Step 5: Select apply update from external storage then navigate to the PhilZ-cwm6-DXLSE-OLB-4.93.6-signed.zip which was earlier copied to the SD card
Step 6: Select the zip file and confirm installation
Step 7: When the installation process is completed, reboot the phone by selecting reboot system now from the recovery menu
Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 should be now rooted successfully on Android 4.1.2 DXLSE Jelly Bean through stock recovery.

How to Root Galaxy S4 Verizon SCH I545 on Android 4 2 2 VRUAME7 Jelly Bean Firmware
This tutorial uses Root Exploit package created by Recognized XDA-Developers, DooMLoRD, which later modified by PWM978 to make it work on Galaxy S4 (Verizon) SCH-I545. The Root Exploit package allowing Galaxy S4 users to root their devices easily without having to wipe the device or flash a full prerooted factory image. Its completely supports Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with firmware build number I545VRUAME7.

Steps to Root Galaxy S4 (Verizon) SCH-I545 Running on Android 4.2.2 VRUAME7 Jelly Bean Firmware
Step 1: Extract Root Exploit package using winrar/7zip/winzip or any other extracting tool.
Step 2: Insert a microSD card into your device. Make sure it is formatted as exFAT (not FAT32).
Note: If you have a 64GB microSD card you can use your phone to format it as exFAT by default directly from the Storage settings. However, if you have anything less than 64GB microSD card you may have to use the computer to format it manually as exFAT. Remember, if your microSD card is not formatted as exFAT you will see "permission denied" errors when running the exploit.
Step 3: Connect the Galaxy S4 to the computer using USB cable.
Step 4: Copy all files and folders from the Root Exploit package directly onto the root of your microSD card (nowhere else).
Step 5: Open the Android Terminal Emulator app on your phone, then run the following commands:
cd /mnt/extSdCard
./pwn
./script.sh
Note: After running the second command you should have seen your $ change to a # meaning you have root access. The third command is required to make this root access permanent.
Step 6: Once all commands are completed, close the Android Terminal Emulator app and check if SuperSU has any update in the Google Play Store.
Step 7: Open SuperSU app and let the binary update itself to the latest (if any updates are available).
Step 8: Once completed, reboot your device and confirm you still have root access.
Galaxy S4 (Verizon) SCH-I545 running on Android 4.2.2 VRUAME7 Jelly Bean firmware is now rooted successfully.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 (Wi-Fi) N5110 users who have already installed their devices with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, may root their devices using the tutorial below.
This tutorial uses CF-Auto-Root file released by recognised XDA Developers, Chainfire. The CF-Auto-Root file allowing Galaxy Note 8.0 (Wi-Fi) users to root their devices easily without depending on the firmware.
